Wind energy systems transform wind energy into electricity that can be used (either directly or via batteries) for lighting, pumping water, and powering fans, radios, televisions, refrigerators, computers, and other electrical devices. Wind energy systems are very similar to solar electric systems, with the primary difference being that they utilize power from wind rather than from the sun.

If wind speed in the target location averages 9 mph (4m/s) or greater, wind can be the most cost effective way to generate electricity. Wind turbines can produce power day and night, even in inclement weather. With equal amounts invested (including installation hardware), wind turbines can generate up to 4 times more electricity than solar modules. A hybrid system with a wind turbine combined with solar modules is the most efficient and reliable method to generate electricity.

Khmer Solar is the official distributor for Southwest Windpower in Cambodia. Whilst all Southwest Windpower products are available to Khmer Solar customers, the following models are the most applicable for Cambodian conditions. Note that each model is available in 12V, 24V, and 48V.
